I use Randolph Butyrate thinner in Sig Butyrate dope, works fine, and sometimes add a little Certified retarder when the humidity is above 50%, have had NO problems.

I've done that on several occasions without a problem.. Quite often Sig is out of thinner and many colors or now not stocked, so I "experimented" a while back.

I've been using Kleen Strip lacquer thinner in Randolph/Brodak butyrate dope without a problem. $17.00/gallon at Wal Mart. Sometimes I combine Brodak butyrate thinner and Kleen Strip thinner with Randolph retarder and butyrate dope, still no problems.
