Hi
I can not open a can of dope in the house
Got in trouble with a little rustolium
What can I use to precoat the wood and apply polyspan or tissue
Need make and model number that you use
thanks again

Try Mod Podge from your local fabric store. That what I used on my last plane putting the poly span down first and the the clear mylar over that.

You're not supposed to pull on the poly until the mylar is shrunk wrapped over every thing. VD~

John, I am not familiar with covering over poly span with a clear Mylar. What is the purpose of doing so? Is it a short cut to avoid sealing the polyspan? Is it and iron on heat shrink material. I am in the process of covering my vintage Monogram Piper Cub Special and have applied the first coat of dope to bare wood. I dope in the garage or outside on nice days. Yesterday was in the sixties and clear, today it is drizzly and cloudy so progress is slow. I thought about covering with silkspan but decided on polyspan. Richard

It creates a composite that is stronger that either of the two alone. You also get the benefit of a surface that is smooth and takes less paint to finish. Or, you can dye the polyspan and cover with the clear film. Larry Renger has some threads on the process for more info.
