I just finished shooting the clear a few days ago, and I will attempt to polish this one to see if I can rid of the minor orange peel and other defects. After that, all that remains is to epoxy the flaps and elevators into place and see if it flies.

Maybe, but it wouldn't sound or smell as good.
Very nice, Don. I like the colors and paint scheme.

Don has the patience of Job when it comes to masking detail.

As anyone can tell you, I'm no fan of green on planes, but this looks very nice with a very nice scheme layout. Hope it flies well for you.
Pat Johnston once suggested that points be added for a "charisma" factor. Basically, how cool is the plane. This one would certainly rate high on that scale.

hey there isnt anything wrong with green airplanes,, well unless you are at the Nats in 2015,, then it seemed to be bad luck,,
at least for a couple of us
Nice plane,, like the paint scheme

Thank you gentlemen for the kind remarks. The polishing effort is underway, very tedious, slow and not much fun, but so far the results are worth it. I just got a 3 inch random orbital buffer with some foam pads and once the dope is flattened with 2000 grit, it only takes a few minutes with the buffer to get a great shine. I may have to go back and polish some of my other planes!

Man, that is a slick surface. Looks awesome. What did you use for finish material?

Great looking plane! Hope to see it flying at Huntersville!

Gotta love Seahawk colors, I guess.

I finally finished polishing the new plane, it took me a few hours a day over two and a half weeks. Looks good to me from a few feet away, but don't get too close, you'll see my over aggression with 2000 grit paper in a few spots. I learned a lot from this build and hopefully the next one will be lighter and straighter. I should be able to get in the maiden flight next week.

Steve,
I sprayed 5 coats of Brodak Crystal Clear thinned 60% over a two day period.
