What is the lightest glass cloth and where can I buy it?

Sounds like a pretty good offer from Ty, failing that, Steve Thayer has put his website back online.  It doesn't get much lighter than .56.

I just got my order from Thayercraft for .56 Volan glass cloth.The Volan goes around curves much better than regular glass cloth.

I just ordered 5 yards from them ( minimum order they show) for $29 something or about 5 bucks a yard

previously I have been using the Sig version.... this stuff is cheaper and 5 yards will last me rest of hobby career as I only use it on engine areas, fuselages, and wing center sections

I would not recommend the .5oz cloth because it is not a balanced cloth (more threads in one direction and less in the other direction). If you use the .75oz glass clothe it is a balanced cloth it has the same thickness and I would rather fill the pores with fiberglass instead of paint and filler that goes on for the ride. The .5 and .75 cloths are made out of the same threads the difference is that the .5 has less threads in one direction and the .75 has same number of threads both directions.

This has not been a problem for me with ANY of the .5 oz sq yrd cloths.....and Z-Poxy

desired--- strength/ fuel proof for engine area, good strong wing center section, less fuselage tail flex, suitable smooth surface to finish

.75 just adds unnecessary weight...imo

disclosure..I do not make 20 point finishes....nor care to

Not true. Lightest glass cloths have just more coarse structure, so for same weight you get a weaker structure than with heavier, say 1,5..2oz cloth.
And, it's allmost impossible to sand the surface without damaging most of the fibers.
