My son Gavin finally did some more work on his plane this weekend. We did these two colors in about two hours today. I think it looks pretty good but hey I am a little partial to the colors he picked.

Colors do look vaguely familiar...

Thanks guys, it was good to get him to do something in the shop...Crap, I sound like my dad talking about me now.  LL~

He started this plane right after the Nats last year and has worked on it a little at a time since then. I think I will make some video of him on the next session. We will probably do the numbers and letters and the trim on the stab.

And the finished product. Minus the bottom of the wing and stab and his AMA number and plane name. I do know a good vinyl guy though...

Tell Gavin that it is a sharp looking model!  I am guessing it is an Olympic?  What source of power will it have?

Hey Bill,

I will pass the word on to Gavin. Yes it is an Olympic and he will be using an AeroTiger 36 for power. It should be a killer plane.

Tell Gavin the old DOC says he is doing great.  If he needs more practice, I have some planes that need finishing.  Does he charge by the hour or by the plane??? H^^

Great watching the video.  You can see he has the "touch."  BTW, what model air brush was he using?

Thanks Jim and he is using a single action Paasche airbrush. The tip is starting to wear out but it allows for a big pattern that makes painting trim a breeze.

Hi Derek,

That set up should be killer as we all know!  Of course having you and Grandpa Dale helping him will be unfair to all the other guys his age! (an a bunch of older guys, too!) LL~ LL~

Watched the video, very cool.  Good patience.  I even watched part of your airbrush shading clip, liked the Jeff Healy playing in the background.
