Hi all. I am going to start finishing my Fire Baby 2 and had a couple quick questions. I like the 'natural wood' look, so have decided to keep that mostly. I planned on giving it 2 coats of clear dupe, unthinned, then add a couple pieces of colored tissue paper for 'trim', using dope to adhere it down. But, I was wanting to possibly make a few panel lines, or add a couple of things, and was wondering if I could use markers to draw on my stuff then clear dope over the whole airframe. Would this work, or would there be a reaction between the dope and marker. The dope in question is Sig Butyrate clear, and planned on using it unthinned. Thank you.

If you spray the clear in light coats it will not bother the Magic Marker lines. If you try brushing you will find the dope will smear the lines as you make a stroke. I speak from experience..

Great, thank you for your input. It is good to know, as i am going to brush on the dope. So it looks like i will be buying a couple more colors of tissue then for decoration.

It's also hard to keep the marker from bleeding into the grain -- if you weren't already saying you'd be getting more tissue colors, I'd be suggesting that you test things out on some scrap before you start scrawling on your pride and joy.

Yeppers, this testing will be happening. Thanks again.
