Finish on Skyray

(1/2) > >>

David_Ruff:
Just wanted to let you know how I finished the wood/fuselage on my Skyray 35.
Three coats of wood brushing lacquer, light sanding after each coat.
One coat of black Rustoleum enamel.
That's it.
I will let you know how it stands up to fuel.

Dennis Toth:
Dave,
The trick with Rustoleum is to let it cure out at least two weeks before fuel exposure. This seems to be the time it takes to develop fuel resistance.

Best,    DennisT

Mike Morrow:
Hi David, how long after the last coat of lacquer did you wait until you sprayed the Rustoleum?

David_Ruff:
I brushed the Rustoleum three days after lacquer.

David_Ruff:
Nothing fancy.  Just a beginner plane.  Comes in at 28 ounces.
