Finish no tissue

I'm wondering if I could get a reasonable on sheeted balsa surface , doping but no tissue

maybe come sanding sealer , then dope then colour ?

anybody go for less than perfect finish ?

Yes, with enough paint and sanding you can get a great finish over bare wood. But without the paper (or some other substrate) you're giving up strength. Your nice dope finish tends to crack easily over the thinner sheets of wood. If you really want to skip the paper, I'd go with a different paint like an epoxy.
