Title: Filler coat
Post by: James Mills on April 08, 2013, 05:37:39 PM
I'm starting the filler coat on my latest (dope finish).  After I sand the filler coat can I go straight to primer or do I need a coat of clear to seal everything?

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

A sealing coat of clear is a good idea.

How I do it exactly

2 coats 100% on bare wood
apply covering with 50/50 thinned dope 3 coats Whole model SAND SAND SAND when you think your done sanding sand 3 more times.
2 coats 75% dope 25% thinner
Prime and sand off
light coat of primer whole model
color
trim
Clear of your choice
