Title: Electric Finishes
Post by: john e. holliday on March 19, 2009, 08:25:24 PM
After reading the posts about all the different finishes as far as getting one that is fuel proof, it dawned on me.  Eric Rule was showing his new electric power system at VSC.   You could use any type finish you want with electric as long as it is light or covers good.  When trying to compete in F2C we used Flo Quil model railroad paints for the colors.  Had to be careful as it would scratch easily until clear top coat was put on.    We talked about grams in finish weight instead of ounces.   The auto motive finishes would not have to be clear coated except to get that deep shine some guys like.  No more dope aromas wafting thru the house.  DOC Holliday

I think Orestes Hernandez's Ukranian Sharks are painted with urethane, and I think Scott Condon also paints with Urethane.

DOC:
Are Floquil colors available in gloss finish or just flats?
What kind of clear coat will they accept?
