Sadly, I am finally out of my 3608S thinner and am in need of a replacement. Has anyone had success with the thinner sold by Aircraft Spruce ?
Regards,

The Dupont line has changed it's name to Cromax, the 3608S is still available.

Harold, i have been using the Randolph thinner( that Aircraft Spruce sells) with the use of Brodak and Randolph butyrate dope for several years now with out any issues. I only use it for thinning the dope and use less expensive lacquer thinner from Lowes to clean my air guns and brushes....Gene

I recently switched brands from Randolph to Certified. Randolph butyrate thinner is not compatible with Certified butyrate dope.

I was wondering about compatibility between brands. This is on the Aircraft Spruce website: Do not mix Certified Coatings dopes and thinners with Randolph products as they are not always compatible. Use all Certified Coatings products or all Randolph products.
But, once dried, can Certified be applied over Randolph, and vice versa? I could not find anything about that.

At the airport store where I buy my Randolph dope, they recommended Certified thinner as a cost-saving alternative to the high-priced Randolph. It works OK, no difference in performance.
Also, the products on the shelf at Home Depot get the job done, too.
I keep a gallon of Randolph retarder handy for when it's humid. A little bit works miracles.

Same routine with the same brands here, excellent results with no issues.

I use Randolph clear, Sig colors and nothing but Home Depot thinner. Never had the first problem.
