'm getting close to where I needto decide how I'm going to finish the shaark 402. First off, I know where there is an ace hardware that I pass ofen enough in my travels. I'm considering painting the fuselage and tail and monokote the wing. What I need to know is do I use some thing to fill the wood grain before use the ace hardware paint? Can I paint the fuselage and tail, the glue the wing in after or do I need to glue the wing in first ?
Most likely Black fuse and red wing and horizontals. Maybe some yellow trim.

you dont have to fill the wood with something, but it sure does look alot better if you do. When I do the type of finish you're doing, I dope the wood with a couple coats of nitrate dope, then apply silkspan, the a couple more coats of dope lightly sanded between coats. With all the parts covered, I now assemble the plane then use rattle can primer, sand, then color. if you're going to put fillets in, do it before you start the primer.
