Hey! We want pictures! I am hoping, however, that you'll leave off the dark green/sawtooth stuff. It will reduce the visibility, and besides, it doesn't look good!  H^^ Steve

Sorry Steve,

The dark green/sawtooth stays!! Not sure if anything could cut down on the visibility of that Kawasaki green!

You guys know how much I like to paint.  ;) To be honest I have no idea what a paint job should weigh or what my finishes actually weigh. I estimated 10 oz of finish to be on the heavy side. The plane with engine, pipe, gear and wheels, prop, spinner, nuts and bolts, (EVERYTHING) minus paint is around 50 oz now. So even a 10 oz finish would put me at 60 oz. I am keeping records of all the weights on this one for future reference.

Derek

Hi Derek

Mine at that stage/weight finished at about 57 to 58 ounces, if you put a 10 ounce  finish on it rather than 6 or 7 ounces, then you would be at 61 ounces or so, still  very  good and light.

......Ok P.J.  ???// ;D

what I want to know is what does the XL stand for? When I built the Continental XL it was because it was extra large. Was there a smaller Cutlass?

There never was a Cutlass built but Randy did design one around a PA 51 for himself. Mine is upsized for the 65...

I have a Cutlass all built in components, and have had for several years now, I just have not put them together and painted it, It is a VECTRA /Dreadnought sized
Stuntship, as Derek stated he is building it slightly larger for the 65.  The Intrepid XL is the same plane as the Intrepid, except it is larger with a long tail moment setup for larger engines, That is where the " XL " on my designs come from

Maths was never my strong suit... but Im REALLY confused...

I thought I was running PA 75 becasue thats what's written on the side... now I'm not so sure..

What I meant was if he put a 10 ounce finish instead of a 6 or 7 ounce finish on the plane .....  up to 10 ounces, I will  go back and fix the poor grammer for you that I laid out ...

The Huntersville contest was a great time but is slowed me down on the painting.  :'(I will get back to work today. It's probably a good thing that the first couple coats of paint had time to dry... ;D

First coat of white paint on the plane. I think one more light coat will be sufficient. There is only a few places where the white shows through so I will probably give them an extra pass...

It will be hard to wait a couple days for everything to cure before I start laying color!!!! #^
