Since Coverite went out of business, anyone have a suggestion for a replacement for Coverlite?

Go to finishing section and start reading. I now do base covering of doctor paper with clear mylar over that. I have also done doctor paper with MonoLote over it. If you could have seen the trouble I had/have of removing the covering You might like it. D>K

I still use silk and have enough for several more classics. Silk is fun, no honest. H^^ D>K y1
I tried everything. I weighed material, kept track of "coats to fill", did tare tests and tightness tests, all this is in my Builds here and there, for your reading and viewing pleasure if you so desire? ;D
Silk was the winner! #^ As I knew silk would be.
I took applying methods a step further. I now apply silk dry using CA. Take a look at the ARGO 2 build. Minutes, ready for clear. And you CAN fast dry clear dope with a heat gun because I do it all the time an so do others.
In fact, I sometimes fast dry everything I use, Deft Lacquer Sealer and Minwax.
And if I'm really in a hurry, I fast dry paint carefully.

Yea, probably silk is it. I liked the look of Coverlite, but such is life.

So, just curious, stopped by a material store today at lunch. It was empty and me cruising the isles. It was weird. Found some very sheer polyester/silk tight weave in about a billion colors. I talked to the person at the counter and she gave me some samples of 3 different weights, said to be careful because it will shrink a bit. I'll build a small frame and see what we get. Might be fun.

Randy if you have seen my planes in the finish section, several are done using the Poly-ester clot known as jacket lining. Many colors to choose from. Yes it will shrink a little with an iron and as I know you dope, it will sag a little until you get several coats of clear on it. Then it will get drum tight. Don't know if you remember my Thirteen design for old time that was covered with the poly-ester cloth and SIG butyrate, Had 8 coats of clear on it the the graphics and another coat of clear. I had it at the VSC years ago. D>K

Wayne, Don't care for polyspan. I know a lot really like it.
Doc, I suspect the stuff I got is probably similar. this had three different weights. I suspect the middle one will be the deal.

As I found out the heavy poly-ester would not let dope through when I used dope to adhere the covering. So i have some that I use the heat activated glue to adhere the Poly-ester of any of the weights. D>K

Was there a brand and model number on that material? It would be cool to have some new options out there for cloth type covering.
