Ready for clear
« on: April 26, 2013, 07:30:53 PM »
I spent today finishing the wheel doors and detailing the whole plane. Sense the wind will be up tomorrow I will clear it and I am looking to fly this next week.

Unless things change, no flying this weekend in KC.   Of course St Louis is 250 miles east of me and it could be stunt heaven weather.

Plane still looks great.

Robert,

I meant to ask earler, what's holding your gear farings on. Method of attachment? Do they call them farings?

Sparky,She turned out real nice.Thanx for posting as you went as the learning just don't stop in this wonderful hobby. My ship I am painting is moving a bit slower than yours but I am confident it will look FAR BETTER than any ship I have done in the past thanx to your threads.I got burned at 3 contests last year because of no finish points for flying ARFs or ships that were bought/given to me finished.Never again.Thanx Sparky,Trax

They are doors and epoxy holds them on.

Robert,

Epoxied right onto the gear wire?

Yes, solder a tang on the wire to keep them inline and epoxy to the wire. The wire is inside the door.

Today was 2 coats of clear and steal wool. 000 so now its dull but coming along. I hope to get some more clear on it tomorrow. It should end up fairly shiny but won't have the 12 inch finish of the others. Paint is heavy. But I do like the end results so far in under 1 month.

I did have to take the Mercury decal off the rudder as the clear rolled it up. I might paint a 2 instead.

Yea, it seems that sometimes it's a choice between a front row finish or a good flying plane.

Sparky, you have to have confidence that you have just completed the next NATS Open winner.   I know you can do it. H^^
