Title: Brodak Paint vs. Kolar Kote
Post by: Jacob Godsey on July 29, 2013, 06:51:50 PM
Hey Guys,

I have a Buster kit making its way to me and I was pondering finishing options for when the time comes. I was curious if Brodak's Kolar Kote matches his 4oz Paint jars. I was thinking all black for the Buster. I figured Jet Black for the paint and Black for the Kolar Kote. It would be a little off if the colors were not the same, though.

I know Monokote and Lustrekote match each other. But if I were to order the covering from Brodak I could get a quart of fuel as well and take advantage of the combined shipping.

Are there any other covering sources that match each other like Lustrkote and Monokote do?

Silkspan is always an option but I do not have the correct chemicals yet and am lacking experience. I would rather go the dope route with something that is more of a predestined test bed. Something that it will not bug me as much if I botch it.

Thanks
Godsey

Good point Ty.  Some time back I had a camo painted P40.  It was tough to follow with trees in the back ground.

I never thought of it blending in with the trees! My Skyray had a baby blue fuse and a black wing so it was never an issue. I think all white would work. I would have to clean it more often though. A blue would work too. Maybe in a lighter shade.

Not sure on the color now. I have plenty of time to think it over though.

Thanks

I contacted Brodak and found out that the two products do not match. Looks like Lustrekote and Monokote are what will be used.
