Has anyone used this? I want to try it on a 1/2a scale model. If you don't like the brodak product what do you prefer?

Thanks,

I'm not familiar with Brodak carbon or where they get it. It's likely fine but I get mine from CST, The Composite Store on the web. Very fast and a good product. I use both .2 and .5 veil but they have about anything you want.

I buy from ACP http://www.acpsales.com/Carbon-Fiber-Tissue.html
Not "cheaper" just less expensive.

I'm veiling a plane right now. I hope it works.
I put on four coats of clear then the veil. I have about four more on top and I getting ready to sand when it's good & dry.
This is not Ragnar's herring shack even though it looks like it. This is my new paint attic. It keeps the dope fumes out of the house. A one-year project in itself.

Jim,
Has it been proven that CV has advantages over the "Old School" silk?
I too have thought about trying CV, but there's many differences of opinions.
If you elect to use CV, will you use dope or Minwax Polycrylic? Seems the Minwax Polycrylic is becoming more popular.
I've never used CV but I have covered plenty of models with light fiberglass cloth and silk, using resin for the glass cloth, and both dope and Minwax Polycrylic for the silk.
This should be an interesting and informative Thread.

I use silk if I think I need the strength, at the cost of some weight. I think silk needs many or coats of dope to fill the weave.
On this model I didn't need any more strength, just surface finish.
