Mike camel hair brushes have most always been the best choice.  I know of no particular brand but go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels and find something close to a 1" camel hair brush.  These are known to shed bristles a little the first few times you use it so be ready to pluck out a few as you dope.  After a while the dope soaks in deep where the bristles are attached and they stay in pretty well. The camel hair is fine and very soft so they leave the minimum of brush marks.

I think in the package was 1/4" 1/2" and a 1" camel hair brush with rubber grip for $6.98 plus tax ( and shipping if I don't want to drive 65 miles round trip)

Good question Ty, but then how do I/we determine if true Camel Hair...even for the much more expensive offerings

I would hate to do a side by side of a sub $10 brush and a +$25 brush to find they are both the same

My 1" sable brush finally wore out after about 30 years. Tried so called camel hair, was like using a broom. A buddy turned me on to a Loew Cornell golden Taklon wash/glaze. Very nice, been using it for about 10 years. If interested, I'll get the model #.

If you get one, please let me know how it works for you. Mine hasn't shed a hair and it loads and flows very well. The Amazon link is for convenience, I got mine at a Michael's craft store. When new they seem to have some kind of sizing that makes it stiff. It will soften quickly. Do not let the handle soak in the dope.
