Don't know Paul but I'm sure it could be done. I put Rustoleum and Monokote on my "sport" models and usually overlap the paint onto the Monokote, I scuff the M'kote a litte. I've never had it peel. There must be other paints as well, I would think most urethanes would work.

I haven't done it either, but if I were to do it, I would sand the shine off the spot where you would be spraying, to prevent the paint from peeling.

The biggest secret is to make sure all the processing oils is removed from the Monokote. Even when I use Monokote for graphics on Monokote I use a good cleaner like acetone. DOC Holliday

Wynn, your models are really, really nice. What is your specific technique? Surface prep, final paint? Don't just show us what nice work that you have done and leave us hanging! Also, how did you do the lovely graphic on the chrome plane. We DEFINITELY want to know!

That "lovely" graphic looks like my ex... I keep wondering where and when that picture of her was taken?

its pretty simple really.
I mask the area per usual - fine line tape and aluminium foil ( I use the foil coz it is cheap and you can bend it around curves and it stays there)
Lightly sand the top of the covering with 800grit, I guess you could use finer, but I find that 800 works well
wipe clean with a solvent to get rid of all the grease/oil and leftover bits of covering after sanding - for this I use methylated spirits - I dont know what you guys call it up there.
the paint types I have used vary - but I find that the acrylic lacquer work well, also car touch up paint. and of course lustrecote.
A fuel proof clear coat goes over the top - done.

KlassKote epoxy paint sticks super well to Monokote. My Legacy is pretty old now, and I have some trim stripes that come to a tiny point, and those points are still stuck down fine, and I didn't baby it when washing and wiping it down.
The only kicker I've noticed is putting a dark blue stripe over white film is that when you put it in the sun, you can get a sag or wrinkle right in that dark blue painted area, and no where else, heh heh. Murphy's law sucks! HB~>

The screaming banshee I did by printing a copy on a standard sheet of paper - spraying the back with 3m repositional spray then putting on a backing board - cut the picture out with a no 11 blade - peel of REAL carefully - then applied to the wing. If I ever do it again I will not use standard paper as the paint bled under the edges and made them a little fuzzy......
