What is that
red putty
I see on planes when it is getting towards the end of finishing? Is it Bondo type putty? Must be sand able.
Thanks for any clarification.

The finish starts with the first piece of wood cut

No good! Don't use it! Use the putty I mention in my finishing videos if you have to spot anything. They call it red lead for a reason.

Yep, it's
Bondo
.
I'll use it occasionally, but
only
for small imperfections where I'll be sanding 99% of it back off. Like Sparky says it's known as "red lead" in the C/L world, it gets heavy quickly in larger amounts.

Now there's a pun that can be clearly coated without any runs or fuzzies.

Red putty is an automobile finishing glazing filler. I use Nitro Stan 9001 on cars, it has been around since Model A-s were a new body style. In the old days it was called red lead and for good reason. It is designed to fill scratches and small imperfections. It doesn't have any structural integrity.
