That's Albert Briggs, of Esher Surrey, just south of London. He represented England in the world scale champs, held in England in the early '70's, a very good modeller sadly now gone!

I have seen those videos before but always like them. The Chap with the four motor scale planes had his hands full. The amazing thing is most of the flyer's and helpers are dressed in suits, shirt and tie. I can't imagine wearing my suit to the field and then laying on the ground to work on the plane. Here in the US the first 4 motor scale RC model flown at the Nats was by a guy from the Aero Guidance RC club of Endicott NY around late 50's

I love seeing the old films of modeldom. I inquired about the suit and tie one time, was told it was for only special occasions when celebrity showed up. Can you imagine a contest today like that. Very little crowd control and a couple of photographers having to duck. Also notice some engines that were reverse rotation to what is now normal rotation for the most part. Great videos and a person could spend all day looking at them. D>K H^^
