YOU GOTTA LOVE THIS KIND OF SUCCESS
« on: November 26, 2007, 07:28:19 AM »
Here is a success story from last weekend's 3RD CENTRAL FLORIDA FLY-IN. The first picture is of TOM WEEDMAN helping beginner ZAK STRICKLAND on his first couple of flights.  The second on is when TOM thought he heard the familiar sound of ZAK's airplane over at the other circle.  Yup, he got someone to fuel him up and start, on his own.
The third is ZAK again. The fourth is amazed TOM with amazed on lookers.

Great to see success! Kid has spunk.

Phil,
I agree with you.
n1   BUT - take some credit for yourselves.
The fun, friendly, helpful atmosphere you and your club encouraged were a definite motivation to learn.
Thanks again from all of us.

It is great to see the  pictures of another newby.  I think the grandaughter put up 8 flights after she soloed the first time.  Then I made the mistake of reminding her of the golden arches she was so eager to get to for lunch.  Next step is when they learn to start their own engines as my son did so many years ago.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Good for Zak! But then I noticed the dangling safety thong in one pic...not so good.

We caught Leo on that once. Maybe it was his (Leo's) lack of experience?  LL~ Steve

I know I take a chance with this, but, when teaching youngsters or even new people I myself do put safety thong on either one of us.  Of course I use a D-type handle and stay very alert.  Now when they have soloed I require they put the safety thong on.  DOC Holliday
