Yesterday at the field..
« on: February 24, 2014, 05:52:39 PM »
I thought I'd post this...
A pic of the field yesterday and....
That's Mario Sergio and his buddy Antônio.
Mario is he owner of the FliteStreak that had the tank "issue"...
He came to talk to us and actually had a new tank on his ship.
The engine is a ST 29... It was again having running issues... But as soon as I downloaded the pic to my laptop I realized what the problem was... Can you??
The VooDoo had CG problems.. ST G21 .29...
Hope this straightens things out....

Hes running the muffler pressure to the overflow and not the uniflow tube. Also his NVA would need to be turned. That also might make a difference

Plus he might wanna look into getting rid of that remote needle valve. Go to a ST NVA if possible.

Neither issue is necessarily fatal. I am running muffler pressure into the overflow on my Skyray tank, and plugging the uniflow. I think at least 2 NATs that I am aware of were won with that configuration. I ran that way at the 2000 NATs and came in third.

It's not obviously that it hurts anything to run the remote needle in that direction, either (aside from the fact that something made it not work).

My guess is if this doesn't work, it's not because of this. The venturi might still be too big.

Long feed tube is not good, but it might not be a big issue.
I guess brown rubbish from the new tank caused the problem.
I will clean the tank and use a fuel filter. And change the NVA position if possible.
Oh, yes. The venturi size might be too big.

Good flying, Aki

How about the tank touching the cylinder head. It could be adding vibration or heat to the tank as it runs.

Well did he let you help by shortening the fuel line with the needle valve assembly.   As far as the pressure line to the over flow I've done that on a couple of tanks with no problems.  Seems I had the uni-flow to close to the pick up.

i agree with Brett, and John  tanks were run for years that way untill we found out about unaflow and even though i dont like remote needles my 21 proto has a real simple one with just a tube dumping into the vwnturi on pressure and it works fine . if the venturi is small enough  it should work

The field you see is a public place and will be subject of a report for CLW, probably july issue...
Amazing, isn't it??
Mario said something about making a smaller venturi, and he might try the NVA in the venturi..
It was cool to see his atttituda change and after he said he was going to leave, he stayed there for an hour and a half... LL~
He definitely needs another muffler... Any sugestions?
