Yak 1 new ride
« on: January 01, 2023, 05:44:37 PM »
It took more than 2 years to build it, but it is done. It flew today, it is not better than my Yatsenko plane but not worse either.
66 OZ ready to fly (battery onboard)
Igor's system and prop.
Badass motor.
I used a Bob Hunt system to build the wing. I molded my own fuselage.
Fiber glassed and painted with Klass Kote.
It took just a handle adjustment today to fly well but I will keep working on it.
I enjoyed the building, learnt a lot in the process and I hope it will last a long time so I can enjoy flying it as well.
It was definitely more expensive than ordering a plane form Ukraine!

Gorgeous model...!!

"molded fuselage" meaning that you can still "lay up" duplicates...?
There are obvious advantages to having an insurance policy like that.

Now that you are geared up to do glass work I'll bet you have materials and ingredients remaining to do more builds with...[if that helps make you feel better about the cash outlay]. H^^

That turned out really NICE!  Hopefully we get a decent day soon and I'll meet up with you at Huntersville to see it fly!
