YaaHooo! 2 pilots test flown today
« on: August 21, 2009, 08:07:53 PM »
The youngest son and I flew today! #^

Neither one has flown for years and today was his first time on 60ft.
He had gotten pretty good with 1/2a combat when 12-13 now is 21--big grin on his face! Couldn't belive how much room he had to fly in.

The old Midwest Cobra did not loose any parts! I flew it twice and he got in 3 flights on it.
The (new) Staillion .35 needs more break in. Did make 3 flight of about 5 laps.
The Shoestring. Man! silky smooth! very very nice to fly. Need to add 1/4 oz to tip and about 1/2 oz to tail and can probably call it perfect! #^

Now for a question.
I thought the tank pictured on the cobra is uniflow but after using it today I think it is a pressure tank.
Can someone identify what it is?
Seem both vents are at top internally.
The tank was loose in a box full of new and used tanks.
I can not believe I have forgotten how to tell the difference.

Was a good day--sitting here with big grin!
My squares need lots of work though.

Don't laugh at the cobra it has thousands of flights and is really tired--and old.

I'll try to help with the tank, could be anything doesn't look like any pre-plumbed stock tank I've ever seen. You should be able to determin where the tubes terminate inside the tank by sitting it on it's end and putting a little fuel or alcohol in it. try sucking fuel out one tube at a time.. If you get nothing it's a pretty good bet it's the fill vent.. If you get fuel from two tubes one will be the feed tube and the other will be the uniflow. Suck all you can out of one then switch to the other and see if you get any more. If you get more fuel the first one is the uniflow and the second is the feed.

Bob
Thanks.
Was hoping some one would remember.
I think that it is Veco/Clary tank but possible it is one of the guys that was building Rat ,slow rat and slow combat tanks in the 70s.
On the airplane playing with it I think it a pressure tank.
Guess I need to pull it off and test.
Think I will have to pull the back off and convert it to uni flow.
Uniflow tube should end at 1/4 inch in front of pickup( right rear corner)????memories seem to be fading.....uh--fast! LL~

Thanks guys

Don't apologize for the looks.  If it flies and you didn't break it, everything is great.  I broke one this weekend.
