worldwide appearance points award, anyone?
« on: December 05, 2023, 03:22:54 PM »
few years ago i had promoted a Brazilian National challenge to promote control line model building & flights as modellers here was spending mos of the time online and fields left empty. We had some 20-30 attendants, and as our country is HUGE the competiton was online with great sucess.
Since we are a huge community here in Stunthanger and have modellers from all places of the globe, what about promoting a similar challenge or competition so we could know better the modellers from all around the world and their work?
for our challenge we had defined a model as a base so each builder could make his own version (chosen Bob Hunt Holeshot as itīs very popular down here) and we focused on the craftsmanship/creativity rather then fidelity back then. Each modeller had to supply a set of good resoluton pictures with specific details/angles and a film of the model full flight. No points are provided by flight but it was mandatory to fly.
Bob Hunt was informed and kindly sent an award for the first place.
Any takers to promote similar thing here? I think the plane could be free choice and the board of judges could focus on the craftsmanship
look forward for any input on this idea.

That sounds like a great idea!

I nominate Sparky's Viper for the design.

Problem here in my area is flying where there are few people to see us.   I think you should change appearance to attendance.  Myself I am almost lame and have no vehicle to get to the field.   If only the people who are afraid of us having fun we could be using ball diamonds that are vacant or even school fields.
