Congratulations goes to Ryan Young for taking home the hardware for winning the World Championships junior class F2B crown!
Our hometown(Houston) teen has done us proud! Also congrats to Granpa Bill Rutherford for his inspiration, support and success in teaching/training Ryan to fly.I have watched Ryan grow as a pilot, and he is simply amazing! A very polite, genuine young man. Truly a rare breed,as most kids his age are more focused on facebook/myspace/twitter ect, and texting friends.
A great story about them overcoming major difficulties and obstacles(lost acft, ect), and still taking home the Gold! We should all be proud of his(and Bill's) accomplishments. I know I am!
Way to go Ryan! H^^

Ryan looks like an exact clone of Bill!! They both are talented stunt flyers. Like something out of a sci-fi movie. Scary :o

Huge "congrats" to Ryan and to Bill!

Like everyone else I followed Ryans' "Hungarian Adventure" here on Stunt Hanger.
His primary plane got lost, unpredictable weather, some other worthy Juniors and he still pulled it off.
He no doubt he has the skill but the young man showed alot of heart too.

Two nights ago .... lengthy and heartfelt phone call from Bill received here describing the whole adventure...including the help received from David, Ted and others. What an inspiring story!

Huge congratulations to Ryan and Grandpa! He did overcome adversity, and some other talented pilots. Job well done.
The true measure of a person (*Man* if you will!) is how they deal with adversity. Anyone can do well when things are going their way, it's what they do when things go wrong. Ryan (and the entire team) did this with class.

Ryan overcame much on his way to a well deserved win.
Everyone pitched in to help him. Don't ever let anyone suggest that our team is not a team!
Congratulations to Ryan and our team members. They all all earned this.

To see young Ryan develope thru the short years has been an experience. Of course he has a great Grandpa. I can still remember when Grandpa Bill showed up at Swope Park in KC Mo. Can't remember how he done as I was carrier director. He had a Mustang that was gorgeous. Congradulations to young Ryan and Grandpa Bill. H^^

Just a quick story to flesh out the character of the Bill and Ryan family. Somewhere around 1976 Grandpa Bill (some time prior to earning the appellation) came to a WAM contest out in San Francisco and flew with us. That particular time I was lucky enough to win the Expert event. It was a pleasure to have Bill compete with us but I pretty much said adios and went on to other things.
A week or two later I got a letter from Bill. He had taken the time to comment favorably about my performance and allowed as how he thought I had a shot to be pretty good if I stuck with it. Bill had only recently finished second at a Lake Charles Nats so praise from him carried more than a little weight with yours truly.
Bill's thoughtful willingness to share kind comments had a significant effect on the rest of my life as it provided just the impetus I needed to go that little bit extra to succeed.
If he could have that much effect on somebody half a continent away I can only imagine what he could do holding his grandson's hand on a regular basis. Stunt people are all right!

Congratulations to Ryan and Bill.
I had more exciting times watching Dad and Bill the couple of years in the late sixties that Bill lived near us than for decades later. These guys were learning to compete and build at the time and though I was pretty young, much of it is remembered well.
With his determination and hard work along with the help from Bill, it's no wonder Ryan has become the Champion.
