Hey Bruce I will try to explain. The run both rounds at the same time. Round 1 for everyone is circle A and Round 2 is circle B for everyone. Tomorrow starts rounds 3 and 4 and they finish on Friday. Hope that helps.

I'm typing this at 1:47PM CDT. How far ahead is the time in Poland? They should be pretty much through for the day?

Hey Dan, it is 6 hours difference between here and England so I would say my time now is 02:00 CDST  which be about 11:00 PM there in Poland or past bed time.   I know there a conversion chart some where but I can't find it. D>K

7 hours  ahead of central time. First and second rounds over. Orestes 2nd, I am 18th, Howard 20th and Steven 31st and 5th in junior all with 2 rounds to go. Howard and I are right there and with good flights tomorrow we should be in the hunt for 15th which gets us into the finals.

Poland is (like it is over here too) UTC +2.
Learn your local UTC time difference and you can easily calculate time for any place in the world (except N- and S pole, of course... ;D )
I have no clue what CDT and CDST are. Sounds like some regional standard to me...  ;)

Question for Howard:

Is the contest (grass)site just as appalling as it was in 2014 (when we both were there)? The grounds that wrecked Kenny's ship, such a shame.
I recognised the training 'facility', seems to be just the same still. They've had 8 years to sort that out...This is why CL classes should have their championships separated, at dedicated facilities.

Meanwhile I gave up flying internationally. Maybe, if I find replacement batteries (in the EU, I can't afford any imports), I'd pick up the handle some time.
'If you think there's something about my English, you're right. I'm Dutch... '
But I DO play Stunt and I DO fly Bluegrass.

It is also interesting to watch the scores for the Team Championship.  Right now after these three rounds, it is close (well, reasonably close) between Slovakia and the USA for 1st and 2nd, respectively.  Not too distant is France and then Germany, respectively.  Of course, the Team Championship is not determined until the Finals rounds (top 15) are completed.

The team placing is based on the ranking of the top 3 flyers from the country.  Since the Junior's placing can be higher than other members of the country's team, the Junior's placing can become important to the team standings.  This has happened in the past, including previous USA teams.

Team placings are based on the sum of the ordinal rankings of the individual team members.

I must be missing something. Slovakia is 1, 7, 10 for a total of 18.
USA is 2, 18, 20 for a total of 39.
That looks like a convincing SVK team win at this point.

Hi Paul

It looks like you are giving the placings at the end of round 2.

Right now, I can only find the scores/positions for the end of round 3.  What I can find shows no scores yet posted for round 4.

For the end of Round 3, the USA top positions are 1, 9, and 15 for a total of 25, while Slovaki has 2, 6, and 13 for a total 21.  All I am saying is that the team standings are a bit closer at the end Round 3 than they were at the end of Round 2.

Given that there could be even slight position changes in the 4th round and in the finals, the team title might be close.

If my information is not up to date and there is an update somewhere to show the beginning of the 4th round, I would like to see it.

Yes, I understand that there is a different mix between pilots and judges in this next 4th round.  All I am saying things got closer at the end of the 3rd round.

The US 1, 9 and 15 placings are for the World Cup not the World Championships. There have only been 2 rounds at the World Championships.

Todays flying is over . Not a great day for me. I didn’t have one of my best flights and a combination of flying through the sun twice and a 90 degree wind shift didn’t help the cause either. Howard had similar issues as we both flew at the same time. Steven had a good flight and put up one of his best scores. Orestes had a really good flight this morning, however his score didn’t reflect it as he was the first one up for the day. We need a big day tomorrow to have any chance of metaling as a team.

Do they take the best flight from rounds 1&2 and then the best flight from rounds 3&4?

Best score from rounds 1 & 3, added to best score of rounds 2 & 4, if I read correctly above.

Alex is a frequent visitor to the speed circle at Buder Park. He has been at the F2A thing for quite a while now and after watching him from a distance while he works on his models, it's easy to understand that he would be at the top pf the heap and be there for a while. He's quiet and focused on what ever it is he is doing but will take the time to answer a question if I can think of something intelligent to ask! Hi son is coming along right in his footsteps and it's quite possible that this father/son team may dominate the event for a while yet.

Qualification rounds are over . Finals start in a little while. Orestes 2nd, me 24th, Howard 26th, and Steven 27th. In my opinion Orestes has been the class of the field! But we will see what the judges think by tomorrow afternoon.

First round of fly off is over. Orestes 5th and Konstantin 14th. And when those 2 flew the wind really picked up to at 15 plus while the others enjoyed the good air. The luck of the draw! More to come tomorrow.

It appears that Team USA held on to win the bronze team medal.  Well, upon further review, Team CZE finished just ahead of them. My bad.
