Been working hard the last couple weeks painting the world championship plane. This is the same one that crashed due to pushrod failure almost a year ago. The repair added 1.7oz to the airplane. Most of the repair was on the wing and fixing the landing gear…so theoretically the CG should be somewhat close to what it was.
The airplane is just about ready for clear. I got a couple things to do before spraying the clear on it. The current weight is 63oz. Should be 65oz before weight and balance when finished.
Some pics!

Wow, Matt! Just Wow! Looking great and I love the big "USA" on the top of the right wing! You're gonna love the feeling of flying that ship where you're gonna take it!
God Bless my friend! Take good care of it this time round! OK

Hey Matt.
It is hard to believe that is the same plane. That is a really good looking paint scheme. I look forward to seeing it at the field.

Thanks Ted! I’ll do my best!! Can’t wait to get it back in the air
Thanks for the kind words everyone! It’s not my best work, there’s a fair amount of flaws underneath that came as a result from stripping the finish, sanding and repairing the plane. I made some sacrifices in an effort to keep it as close to the original weight as possible. I never made a trim change to it on the 12 flights I got on it! It flew that well, hoping it flies like that again!

Where do you guys find the time? Beautiful plane.

Sprayed the clear on today. Huge thanks to Phillip Nickles for showing me Paint Society on YouTube. His videos helped me get rid of fish eyes, solvent pop and all sorts of issues with my clear. Only some dirt I need to buff off and fix a huge run on the bottom of the outboard flap. Should have it ready to fly by this weekend and hope for good weather

What type of clear did you use Matt?

Put the finishing touches on the plane today! Weight is more than I wanted at 68oz but its sister flies extremely well at 72. First flights to hopefully come soon!
