Sorry, Steve - I didn't realize that it was posted before.

Maybe Robert can remove it?

I wonder if they could make tip weight boxes?

With your company logo burned on the lids!

I was counting the OSHA violations.  If they ever get a disgruntled employee who thinks of complaining, they're going to need to find a steam-powered sheet-metal shop to make guards for just about everything.  Assuming that they can pay off the fines.

I have a friend whose hobby is making small wooden boxes out of a variety of woods. He does a very near job.

This is incredible historical stuff.
I'm surprised that OSHA allows them to operate.  I noticed at least a hundred serious workplace violations in just that short film.
Too bad! because I have to believe that they will eventually be shut down if the wrong folks see this video!

I don't know what excuses they need to go into a place.  I know that in Oregon, in the 70's, when my dad's company ran afoul of OSHA, they waited until a worker complained.  Something about constitutional protection against unlawful searches, etc.

OSHA ,where does all that fine money go? Not towards educating anyone about safety issues.

Well Tim, in my experience they simply wait for something (anything) to call their attention to a violation.  Certainly a complaint from an enployee will do it but they have the legal authority under the law to inspect any working enviroment that the wish...they do have to give a three day notice of inspection.  Constitution?  Does anyone in the Federal Government pay any attention to that anymore?
The bottom line however, is that they simply don't have enough enployees (inspectors) to cover even a small sector of working employment so they do the most dangerous (at least what is considered the most dangerous) places first, and the ones with the largest number of employees.  Shipyards and automobile factories are very high on their list!
I'm not sure where saw mills fly on the radar...but they certainly seem dangerous, but have a small number of employees so...who knows?
If I owned that saw mill I would want to keep a very low profile and that doesn't include making videos of the operation.  Green or not!  That's my only point.

OSHA reacts to work place complaints and will initiate inspections based on serious accidents (usually fatalities) and businesses with high accident rates.  There is a self reporting mandate for OSHA recordable injuries.

I was kinda thinking that myself.

I guess the company has been lucky so far as far as accidents are concerned. The only disgruntled employee seems to be the dog who lost his tail in the machinery... but he ain't talking!

When this video popped up on another forum I visit, it was said this facility was exempt from OSHA regs. Can't remember the exact reason, something about being family owned and all workers are family.

If I remember right this is a family owned business.  And yes the dog did lose part of his tail.  He now watches where he  wags it.
