Looking for a Stuka Stunter for .40-.60 engines
« on: August 11, 2015, 03:55:11 PM »
   Hi:

Who sells a good kit for a Stuka Stunter.  Looking for one that will use a .40-.60 engine.  It can be either profile or full body.

                                                                                                                      Tia,

PAMPA sells the plans to my 97 Stuka.  It had an OS 35 in it.  Dad has the plans for my 99 ship which is larger at 630 square inches and it had a 53.  I know both are not kits and only plans.  I think somebody has the computer files for the ribs and can cut them out.  Walter Umland maybe?  Don't remember exactly who.  Maybe somebody can enlighten me on that one.  I have the plans for the 2005/2007 planes (exact copies of each other) on CAD.  I am thinking of writing up an article for PAMPA on that one.

BMJR kits the Hi Johnson Stuka. Pretty sure it is .40 sized and know that it is classic legal. No flaps but close to scale wing. See at bmjrmodels(dot)com. A little smaller but a good flier and OTS legal is the Don Still Stuka kitted by RSM. See at rsmdistribution(dot)com. If a full boat super-stunter is what you are looking for Matt's designs are the way to go. 8)

If Matt will consider letting you use the CAD plans I or anyone else with a laser can cut the parts for you. All Matt has to do is agree to the process, e mail a copy of the CAD drawings and we can cut the parts.

I have no objections to it.  Actually since I am wanting to put the 2005/2007 plane in PAMPA, I could say that Eric could make the parts.  Not a bad idea.  Also, I forgot to mention the 2005/2007 planes were originally tuned piped planes.  However this is easily modified for muffled engines too.  Just enclose the pipe tunnel and modify the cowl to accept the muffler.  Should be simple enough.

Matt's Big Stuka is a really nice airplane.  If you build it do think .60 + for power.  It's a goodly sized ship.  I'd think a short kit for it would go over pretty well.
