Wired for excitement video
« on: February 17, 2011, 06:05:16 PM »
I have looked on the AMA site to find the video that they sold entitled "Wired for Excitement".  Our club is working to give modeling classes this spring at a Christian Sports center in Paducah KY.  I wanted to show this video as the control line presentation during the classes.  Since I can no longer find that for sale at AMA, does anyone have a copy I could borrow, copy or purchase for use at this spring learning session.  If I have missed the item in question on the AMA site, I will apologize for this post.

Allen:

Ask the AMA guys who support flying site acquisition.

By the way, it is very dated.  We showed it to a troop of Boy Scouts the other year and they died laughing at the over the top narrative and the hippies clothing....

You might not want to use it.

Scott

The AMA sold it in VHS format but the original might have been super 8,it is that old. It is very old and you can spot many safety violations. The bigest one is no one if using a safety thong of any kind in any event. The narrator is the guy that used to do all the best of NFL videos. A very hokie video not worth showing.    Mike

That wasn't a safety violation, the safety thong was not required in 76.

Bobby Hunt, Hippie. I like it!

Alan I have a copy that you can use---  I bought it from AMA many years ago and we used it to good results with new prospective fliers.

Let me know where to send it.

Alan,

We showed that video to the city parks and recreation director about 20 years ago when we were trying to get a flying field.  They were impressed, mainly because the late Harry Kalas, famous for the NFL films narration, Campbell soup commercials and Phillies broadcaster, did the narration.

It gave us some credibility.  We were trying to sell them on the fact that we would be bringing out-of-town visitors to the city for contests.  Kalas' narration help to sell the "sporting" aspect of the hobby.  Parks and recreations directors don't care about hobbies.  They do care about sports, though.

Steve.

I love that film. If anyone has a source for it I'd buy one today.
I love hippies, no thongs, and hokey old NFL announcers.
