I got a late Christmas present today in the mail. Someone caught Ryan's Junk Yard Flight and sent me a DVD. In my spare time today between coats of dope I have been trying to pull it off and up load it to youtube.
Sorry for the poor quality. I lost a little during the xfer.
Anyway this is Ryan flying our entry. Jack Sheeks and Jim Lynch were on our team.
It was Ryan's idea to build a platter. He learned how to fly on a Osborne 1/2a platter, and this was just a scaled up platter.
Ryan did most of the stunts while sitting or standing in the white chair in the center of the circle. He did the only 4 leaf clover I have ever witnessed with a JYW's plane. (Seen 3 or 4 events) He did the overhead 8's while laying flat on his back. (Joe Gilbert taught him that bad habit)
He made Dad proud. ;D
What a great memory!

Oh man, what a day!
I'm looking forward to next year for sure.

Well when he has two of the best designers around and a coach/teacher beyond words, what did you expect. He has sure grown since I first heard about him a few years ago. But, he is having way too much fun.
PS:Can you imagine what that disin would do if built with decent balsa and adjustable controls.

There is really nothing new under the sun...
Tom Hampshire and I flew 1/2 A Platters (flying wing) at the GSCB junk yard contest even before Brodak had his first event.
Much to the distain of some who complained "That's not an airplane, that's a combat ship"! (K.I.S.S.)
