8) OK which is better ,place a tab on a wing or try and re heat the covering on a wing that is covered with UltraCoat . I have a Viking that has a noticeable warp and would like it to fly straight.

Use a tea kettle on the stove and get it steaming. Twist warp out and re-shrink the covering. Works every time.

Steam works well with silkspan and dope but didn't think steam had much effect on a plastic covered wing, steam can't get to the wood through plastic. A helper and heat gun is all I have ever used and managed to take some pretty good warps out.

I'm not familar with Ultracoat usage. I have taken out warps in moneycoated wings with a heat gun. They always came back............. maybe it's the 115* heat indexes here in the summer????????????? y1 f~

If you use steam to take the power out of the wood before re-shrinking the monokote it will not come back.

8) I like the idea of the steam ! But how do you get it on the inside? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Simple - Move to the Gulf Coast! Everything is automatically "steamy". Houston wouldn't be half the city it is if not for Willis Carrier!

Trust me it will get inside. I have done this a lot.

sometimes i have had to twist and shrink an opposite warp into wing and let sit a few days and see where it comes back to--and do it agin when nessary
have also used weights on t.e. and blocks/books/whatever under l.e. or spar and let sit afew days or longer
if you will ship it to me i will expose it to our natural high humidity and send it back ready to straighten!
steam works---never tryed it through plastic---the poors must be larger than i thought.
have used weights on elevator and let sit untill unweighted its straight----if it comes back i do same until it is same amount in other direction and let sit a few more days to see if it comes back straight.
piping steam through leed outs or weight box should limber things up------might need weeks allow moisture to leave and should probably be jiged straight for that time
its been raining here off and on all week----sometimes humidity is lower when raining but just wait till the sun comes out! n~

Don't forget that you can use the exaust from your airplane hauler at the field. Very effective and getting cheaper with the price of gas comming down. **)

8) I forgot to mention this is a Viking and it's the outboard wing panel. Anyway i will try and warp it the other way and hold it there to see if it will stay straight. . Thanks
