Title: Windy's Stooge
Post by: Paul Taylor on September 21, 2014, 02:00:40 PM
Some have asked about Windy's stooge.

Here are some pictures. This thing should be in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. Gets my vote- it has performed flawlessly more times than anything in the Museum. Is it a solid plank fabbed from oak? Wonder if it has ever been rebuilt?

Mike Kijesky built them......he got $100 each.....
Someone sent Winfred a plastic commercial version that rattled apart in a single session....

Mike got a real job and doesn't build them any more.

That's what I need!  I think I will use this plastic lumber I have though.

I can't see the pics. I hope they aren't gone.

UPDATE: On my second attempt, the pics showed up.

The "trough" is what makes it work....the rest (even the over engineered, carbon fiber wrapped pivots) are fairly easy to do.

When Windy built his first one, he put it on one of his videos.  I built one and it worked flawlessly.  I was kind of leery of something putting all the stress on the stab, but it didn't seem to cause any problems.  I still have it, but I am having trouble getting down on the ground and getting it all set up.

Some have asked about Windy's stooge.

I know all I want to know about Rich Peabody.

Oh. wait, that's not what you meant...
