WIND FLY at the NARROWS ON SAT. AM!

Arriving on the Narrows flying site...around 10:45 ish' armed with nothing but a wuzzie little new age Fugii digital instamatic, I see Pete-n-Pete...n' Randy hangin' round their transportation buggies...
Only Randy Powell's beautiful model was sitting on the tarmac...TIED DOWN WITH TOOL BOXES AND then I noticed that Fergie's nice little red profile stunt model was sitting over in the grass...TIED DOWN WITH THE ENGINE RUNNIN' AT FLIGHT SPEED (Pete's new  LAZYBOYinstant BREAK IN STAND!) Fun to observe how much wind force that prop was putting out by seeing the grass behind the model was lying almost as flat as wheat grass in a Midwestern wheat field in summer.
Speaking of wind...NOT A TRAFFIC CONTROL CONE was in sight...WHY? HA!
When I asked...Randy pointed out that the wind was so strong that THE CONES had all tipped over where most of them  had blown down wind and ended up off the tarmac and ended up against the nearbye fence.
So we spent downtime sharing  HIGH WIND STORIES that we  had the pleasure or displeasure of flying CLPA events over the past decades. (Old men dream dreams and tell biggnnnbigger stories!)

Finally...I put up a flight on my 4.5ounce super ultralight Shadow sportkite on 70ft. 1994 vintage 50lb. Shanti Spectra flying lines.
(the Wind God of Stunt kites must have heard my silent prayer that the 30mph wind gusts would tear my light wind kite to shreads...because SUDDENLY THE WIND STOPPED VIRTUALLY DEAD.
But then it was time for all of us the get out of there and do our honeydoo lists.
(That same Sat..this day proved to be my 39th Wedding anniversary and it was almost 1:15 and I managed to keep my promise of being home in the Gig harbor woods by 1:30 to let the celebrations begin.

That's OK, Donnie. We flew today. But the wind finally drove us out. Pretty nice a 9am, but by 11:30 or so, it was time to leave. that last flight on the Ringmaster was interesting. Almost didn't have enough elevator. First time in awhile I have to run forward while doing maneuvers.

Strange weather lately...Carol and took our doggie and stopped at a park and shot some bunnies..before going out to a little dinna'-n-dance thingeee for our anniversary. No we didn't hurt the bunnie...here he is before I SHOT him with that little lack luster Fugiibrownie

We were becalmed at Arlington today.  Plenty o' thermals.  A goodly crowd was there.

I knew I had picked the right spot to come fly,, drats,, To bad my plans got changed at the last minute! I got blown out here this morning in Pullman,, gusts above 20,, steady wind at 15 or better,, I repowered the Freelancer with Pats Magnum, and the Oriental had a replumb job and I needed some confiramtion flights,,
fortunatly the wind calmed to a nice steady 5 mph breeze more appropriate for test and trim sessions.
Got in 4 or 5 flights with my stooge,, or uh, Linda,,
both planes proved out, enough power on the freelancer,, 13x5 XOAR prop, just a touch to much load I think, I will trim it about a 1/2 at the tips and try again, or try the TT 12.5x5.5 and see how that does, I have about 5 or 6 props to try on it now that I know it has enough power. Still goes gollywankers in the first loop of the clover which I dont understand,, that isnt one of the places I normally have issue? everything else was pretty solid.
The Oriental was mucho better, actually held needle setting,, still dont know what fixed it,, sigh,,

In Springfield Mo I got one flight in in front of Alan Brickhaus.  Would have put up another one, but, kept kicking the prop loose.  It is going to get fixed.  Tom Farmer was doing some great patterns.  But , as the rest of us, he had some spots to improve on.  DOC Holliday

Today was beautiful, stunt heaven besides a couple of rain drops.  Stopped flying due to threatening weather to the west.  Did rain? No!  But now The Ares is just about there, just need a good starting routine and a little tip weight, and some faster lap times.  After that we'll see.
