As per the article pertaining to Maynard Hill's trans Atlantic flight, prior to the article appearing in Model Aviation Model ( Note:  MODEL) aircraft were enjoined from using telemetry to fly.  All models are to be line of sight only.  Of course that has been changed for the cockpit camera pilots, bur the full time spotter must have the model in sight at all times.  All the terrorism talk will still be possible even if all models are banned.  It comes back to the gun fight.  All the laws on the books, of which there are way too many with more written after each killing, or so it seems, will only be followed by law abiding citizens.  It is illegal everywhere in the country to use a firearm in the commission of a crime.  How many law abiding citizens commit a crime with a firearm?  None!  Automatic weapons are illegal.  Do the druggies have automatic weapons?  Absolutely!  But, alas, the idiots can cause more harm and cause our planes to be banned quicker than terrorists.  It all has to do with perception.  If the public gets scared of our planes, whatever kind, control line or RC, we will have problems.  In this day and age, all to frequently one size fits all.  I do hope and will do all I can to see that reason prevails.  A lot of what is happening is primarily due to the big push to use UAVs in a multitude of ways, none of which have anything to do with models, control line or RC.  All the uses are commercial.  When the call to action comes to write the FAA when the comment period opens, we all need to register our thoughts, concerns and comments in an appropriate manner free from threats and foul language in a clear and concise manner.  If we all do so, our concerns should be heard.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and full flying new year I am

Yours Truely,

Bob

If the people and the industries stick together it will never happen.  But, then again I just watched a two part show called The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.  Now if we could afford to buy one way tickets for the people against the legal gun owners.  Have to have a gun to put food on the table at times.   H^^
