Our club here in Wichita Kansas spent the morning cleaning up the flying site for our contest this weekend. We have two paved circles, one grass circle for combat and another grass circle for the carrier deck. The site cleaned up real nice and it looks like the weather will be just right for the contest.

It looks like the weather is going to be great compared to what we have been having. Hope to be there to fly planes I have not flown all summer because of the heat. Oh Well. Should be fun.

It was a blow out in 2009 but we certainly did enjoy ourselves with the fellowships Saturday evening. A few brave souls did put up some flights. Most opted to fly another day. Sorry to say we won't be able to make it this weekend to Kansas. But perhaps we can next year. As soon as I finish with the VA hospital next Wednesday we plan on heading out to Albuquerque for their contest. Gary & Judy, Jim & Emily, and the whole C/L bunch make this a fun place to go flying. Mr. Kraft is right in it has been way too hot to do much flying. Perhaps I can go get in a few flights tomorrow morning. My trailer is loaded and ready to head out.

I haven't been to the Wichita contest since about 2002. In fact, I haven't been to any contest since 2002. If I remember correctly, it was really very nice....if you consider 10-15 mph wind nice. After living here in Wichita Falls for 10 years, 10-15 mph seems downright calm. I flew this morning early, and for the first two flights, it was essentially calm. I had forgotten what it was like to fly through my own turbulence!

Woo Hoo! Glad your coming up to Wichita Bob. I did not realize it had been that long since I have seen you. We did not make Wichita last year as my wife and I had the flu. Guess we didn't miss to much as far as the flying went, but sure missed being there as far as the camaraderie goes. I went out yesterday and flew in the wind and found out my flying sucks. But I made it through the pattern for a few flights, so guess I am ready. We will have fun.
