Width adjustments change the sensitivity of the controls.  A wider line spacing makes the controls faster, and of course closer spacing slows the controls.  I have a Smoothie with lightning fast controls that my Dad built for me a few years ago, and it was so twitchy I really couldn't fly it well.  Then my friend and flying mentor, Ed suggested moving the lines closer together with an adjustable handle, and that did the trick.  An adjustable handle will really help dial in a plane to fly its best.

For cable handles  fully adjustable  the  MNT   handle is  the best built in my opinion, they also make an adjustable hard point, plus I have the walker design carbon hard points in stock

As noted, the spacing sets the control sensitivity. That permits you to adjust the sensitivity without having to change the trim of the airplane.

Whichever handle you get, get one *without* a cable running through it. I would very strongly suggest the Paul Walker-style carbon handle mentioned by Randy, and the set of line clips of various lengths (which a certain #2-ranked smart-ass gave the name "hello kitty" clips) to adjust the neutral, since the handle itself is not adjustable for neutral.
