Title: Why is Stunt Hangar so successful?
Post by: Richard Grogan on October 29, 2006, 12:43:11 AM
The reason this existing format works is the people, and why they're here. I dont think theres one member of Stunt Hangar that doesn't want to see CL re-emerge as the premier sport/hobby it once was. As a general rule, and my personal belief and observation, CL modelers are the least selfish and most generous bunch in model aviation there is. I have seen this for my entire modeling lifetime.Get help/ give help; no matter where we are as pilots and builders,we all want to see the new guy succeed, and the next and next and so on...Truly a brotherhood.Theres enough diversity in experience to share the wealth and pass it on. Here, there's a glue that holds all of us together. What do You think?

Hopefully, if we keep pulling together, there will be new generations of CL fliers beyond our times! Don't change a thing Robert, and thanks! And thanks to everyone for making this the best!

Thats my story(2 cents worth), and I'm sticking with it!

Good points Richard but I think the real reason for the forum's success is the fact that this site is apolitical and Sparky makes sure that it remains that way. No hidden agendas here. To paraphrase Tatoo... it's all about "the planes boss, the planes".

I agree that currently the "old guys" are willing to share all knowledge but that wasn't always the case. I remember in the 50's and 60's everyone had "secrets" and weren't about to tell anyone but their close circle of friends. Maybe we are now old enough to realize that this portion of the sport will go the way of the dinosaur in the next twenty years and want to delay it as long as possible.

I agree... keep up the good work Robert and those that haven't contributed a few dollars to keep this site going should forgo a couple of "Starbucks" and  consider a small donation.

Sparky had a great idea, and he is continuing to build upon it.  Being a moderator here is the easiest job I have ever had!

My thanks to all the members for making this as successful as it is and will be.

Dick,
I guess they all have realized that they can't take it with them..everyone grows up at some point! If everyone registered here could mentor just 2 new pilots, we have a pretty good chance for at least another twenty years! **)

I am glad that most everyone likes it here. Sitting here in the BIG chair the numbers I see form the STATS is staggering. I am tracking all traffic on all the forums and we are out doing them all. Funny thing is there has been little or no problems here.

One of the of the reasons at time it looks like low activity is there is something going on in another section of this forum. So please don't limit yourself only to the open forum as the racing and speed guys need some input as well. I still am looking for some construction tips from them. ( I almost wish there was some free flight here) I am sure I could learn something from them.

I have implemented some advertising programs to bring the numbers up. I will continue to let this run until it becomes a problem. Once again this is our board and I am just the Benevolent dictator. If any one would like to see us go in another direction just make a suggestion and it will be considered.

As stated by others you have went beyond what most people would do to improve on this site.  Keep up the good work.  Thanks to you and your administrators.  Later,  DOC Holliday

I'm a FFer and I think it would be great to get some ideas from that group. We seem to know how to built lite.
