Getting ready for Church this AM told the wife the weather was too nice and she wait until after we eat.   So I change clothes after we get home and got a text from Dave Trible that some one got to our field.  Was told the part we use the most was usable.  Loaded the van and went down to fly.  Both planes let me down.  My old reliable Ringmaster started up and I let it warm up before shutting it down so I could roll out lines and the stooge.  Needless to say I didn't load the electric finger and the old Fox would only pop and give short bursts.  Even changed plugs and it still wouldn't start.  So I hook up the second plane and same results.  Pulled plug and it showed bright red.  Finally called it quits as the sun was going down and temp was also.   Both engines usually start on 2nd or 3rd flip in back yard with same fuel.  But I took pics of the circle that the brainless turd thinks was fun doing.  Has tp be a small car as tracks were street tread and not that far apart.   Will get 2 more posts and set the wide enough for the mower I have which 44 inches wide.  I tried the van in the opening were we take the mowers through and it wouldn't fit.  Plan on sending pics to park manager.  More later.

Really sorry to see that kind of thing.  My condolences.  At our field we have spent a lot of time keeping the field nice and neat.  So far, haven't had this happen to us, but we do worry about it.  So, when it happens to our brother fliers, it is disheartening.  Sorry.

Doc I understand.  We fly at City Park in New Orleans.  We have a 60' concrete circle and a 70' concrete circle and a couple of grass circles.  This field has been there since 1960.  We have an agreement with the park that we will keep it mowed and in good condition.  We had it looking like a golf course and more times than I like to say, we have had people come in with vehicles and cut donuts in the grass and even have had people come in at night and build fires on the concrete pilots pad.  Some people are just pricks.

I think our entire club would agree with you, Mike, on some of these anal orfifices. This is an example of what we get at out fairgrounds circles - our last really heavy damage (when spring rains really set us up). Having created another circle, we still have only two circles unusable, due to not being able to physically cope with damages to the original two back circle, but our main circle has been repaired many times. Sometimes it's just hard to understand people. Good luck with your park manager, Doc. - SK

Serge, the park agreed to let us put up a gate and put a chain and a padlock on it.  We of course gave the Park management a key for access.  We have had to replace the padlock multiple times because people put superglue in the keyway.  We actually had to cut the locks off and replace them.  Just makes you wonder about these people.

You might try a little Bernz-O-Matic heat on a glued lock. I haven't had to do this on any of our local locks, but it might work. Once you have the lock off, soaking it in a stripper might work.

You might also try welding the lock body vertically (key goes up) to the post, if that's what you've got. Anyone tries to shoot CyA uphill into a lock might find they got a fistful of cooked hand. They won't leave any fingerprints, though....

If they pour CyA down from the top, a sharp smack with the mini-sledge should pop it loose, especially if you have been dosing the lock with grease and WD-40 right along.

For the "super glue problem" the locks can be easily reclaimed by using a small can with a couple holes near the top.  Put a wire through the holes and suspend it with the lock inside.  Pour enough Nitro Methane in the can to cover the lock and wait about fifteen minutes.  The nitro will soften the "super glue" and it can be washed out with water and Dawn dish detergent after being removed.  A quick tug on the lock will pull it free after the nitro treatment.
The nitro can be recovered and used for the next time an Idiot does his worst!

I learned this from the maintenance people at Raytheon.  It works!  I was surprised that even someplace like Raytheon has their share of "nitwits".

Some people seem to think that the only way to have fun is to destroy things!  Probably been that way since the "Dawn of Time".

I bought one for this purpose.  Then I realized there isn't anyplace to hide the thing close enough to do any good.  I think they'd spot the camera and just take it.  Since Doc put in all the fence posts we hadn't had any incursions.  They were able to squeeze a smaller vehicle through our mower gap.  Doc plans to narrow that gap to the minimum and that should stop it.  Right now it's around six feet.  Motor bikes can still get it but they can't do too much damage.  We really didn't think they could get through the gap as it is.  They about had to have someone outside the vehicle coach them through the hole.  They couldn't have made a quick exit either.  This shows they aren't even smart scumbags.

In the spring I drive my truck round and round to pack down the dirt. Looks like they got you started. If they dug up some grass it will usually grow back pretty quick. I don't know what level your field was groomed  but wouldn't be much of a problem for me if there's still a spot to get off from I'm good. Are there signs that let them know the field is used for something?

The problem for me at least is not taking off.  It's landing and not destroying the airplane hitting a rut.  It's also about not twisting an ankle walking around on the circle.  I put a sign once.  The city put up another a year or two later.  Both were used for target practice and eventually disappeared.  It's been MUCH worse.  I should be able to get this usable with 8-10 hours of hoeing and raking.

Thank You Scott!  I will be getting out on some of these warmer days (50+) and most off days are during the week.  I'll just have to text you.  Grass seed?   I'll gladly repay you Tuesday for some grass seed today.......  I've bought and spread hundreds of pounds out there in the last few years.  Anything you'd like to contribute........ I plan to start early and travel farther to contests this year so we will try to start flying ASAP.

The old DOC plans on being down there when weather is reasonable.  I plan on 2 more posts for the mower entrance.  Thought about heavy wire on south side just about a foot off the ground.  I have several planes that need to be flown.

The opening here is to get the lawn tractor through- no nails...  actually a few years ago I have placed some nails in strategic places.  Then I got a flat tire.  I’d thought they had moved my nails in my own parking area.  I bought a big magnet on wheels and swept the whole area.  No more nails...

Absolutely true. The field near my house, 5 minutes away, actually RC but CL friendly, has a full locked gate and a tall fence.

I'm told the Club has never had an issue of that nature.

CL circles are in the future there.

There actually are a number of snakes near the circle-Kansas racers.  These aren't dangerous but still will startle you sometimes.  Maybe a sign "Caution Snake Breeding Farm".
