O.K., Christmas is in the past and New Years Day is coming...............who in the midwest (or any where else, for that matter) is planning to get out and make the first flight of the New Year........midnight, December 31.........just curious? Inquiring minds always want to know these things. ??? D>K H^^

The TOPClass group wil be at the field on New Years eve and seeing how many planes will get in the air before the midnight hour and be flying ito the New Year. Don't look for me there as I will be indoors where it is nice an warm. I think Melvin and Jim will be taking pictures.

New years day we are having an open funfly with no entry fee. The club will supply hambergers and hot dogs with the side dishes potluck. You will get a ticket for each flight you put up and there will be a drawing for prizes at the end of the day.

Here in the southeast (which is north of Vermont ;D), it's -5 degrees and we have 2 feet of fresh snow. I'll be thinking of you guys. ;)

We were planning to come down new years eve, but that a lot of driving monday then tuesday also. We might just come down tuesday. Thanks

I don't think we posted a flying time but 10:00 AM works for me.

Right now as I am typing this, it is snowing. Don't know how much we will get, but it is good to see solid white yard instead of the mud patches. Of course the chihuahua doesn't like it. This is second snow accumulation for this season.

Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding area:
January 1st, 2013......Clear, sunny skies, light winds.......24 degrees out there.......snow and ice covered ground.........no one in his/her right mind would be out flying control line aircraft on a day like this. Even "Doc" stayed home by the fire. Here's hoping for better weather somewhere down the line. ~^ D>K H^^

Well, not that many years ago I would hve been at the Topeka field flying. Have been there when we had to dig snow off the circle big enough for takeoffs. That same year we are counting and measuring the prop strikes in the snow made by our own Jim Lee flying inverted. Another year the boy and I broke in a fairly new Fox .35 Stunt flying in over a foot of snow with temps in the 20's. He even made a low outside loop that disappeared for an instant. John Bender and I down at the Argosy flying on patches of snow and ice with tep in the 20's. I was just not in the mood this year and I didn't want to miss out on the Black Eyed Peas and corn bread dinner at Church. The ladies feed us well.
