Grieving
« on: November 01, 2014, 08:56:13 AM »
My nephew, a recent Marine boot camp graduate, tragically lost his fiancée in a fatal car crash last Monday. He was due to go back to training in California  the next day. Its been a terribly long week culminating in  her funeral today. They are both 18, their whole lives ahead of them.
I've only meet a few of you while I was watching the Nats, but I know this community is full of fellow veterans and many giving people. I ask for prayers on their behalf.

god bless

The loss of a loved one is always a terrible tragedy.  It's even much more so when a young person just starting what should be a long and happy life is taken before even knowing the real joys of a family of thier own.
My sorrow and prayers are with you and your son for better things in the future.  My sincere condolences to the young lady's family.
My sincere gratitude to your son for entering service to his country.  May he have a long and fruitful life!

We will pray for her family and yours.  The grand babies will remember your families in their bedtime prayers tonight.  We are sorry for the loss.

Steve, please accept a long-distance hug and know that I grieve with you.  I can't imagine a greater loss than a promising life cut way too short.

Two of the young men I mentored went into service out of high school and lost their lives in accidents.  One, I believe, was a member of a group of 12 that were involved when a student pilot reacted too slowly to the order to go around and make another approach.

These weren't just "kids"; they were rally, really special young men that I had grown close to, and their families were dear people too.  Their deaths left the world a little poorer, and it still pains me to think of "what might have been".

I'll especially pray for your nephew, as this tragedy must be hitting him awfully hard.

Dennis

Steve,

More condolences from MN.  My wife and I are both vets.  Tragic when we lose a young life - in or out of uniform.
You have support here.  Come when you feel the need.

Thanks to all. He leaves in the AM for San Diego. I know being back among his USMC family will help immensely. That's what I love about the model airplane community, fierce competitors who are more than willing to not only help friends , also complete strangers.

Thanks  again
