Title: Who sells motor mounts and balsa
Post by: Paul Taylor on October 24, 2014, 09:22:47 PM
I found balsa on SHH but no motor mounts. I found motor mounts on Brodaks site but no balsa.

Building a IC profile.

Where do you buy both motor mounts and balsa?

  Type at you later,

Edit to add: Check out Tom Morris also. You may not see it on SHH but may have to ask for it. I know Tom sells maple motor mount stock when he is set of at contests.

And National Balsa.  I have yet to order anything from them, though.

for motor mounts, got a table saw?  I cut my own out of birch or hard maple that I can get locally.

Paul,

If you had come to the Baton Rouge contest you could have gotten them directly from Tom Morris.  He had a great selection.  You should join us next year.  It's worth the trip from Memphis.

Is the maple at home depot any good for motor mounts?

Maple is Maple. It varies a bit as all woods do.  Surprised to hear that H D has maple.  I found maple, not advertised as such, garden stakes at ACE hardware.  I cut them with a cheap Chinese table saw with some difficulty.  Perhaps a different blade would have made it easier.  I am sure they will work just fine.  They have been no problem with the building part.  The flying part will be tested next year.
