Yesterdays weather has be bummed out. >:( I worked a couple of hours a night after work all last week and a few extra hours on Saturday so I could finally after a year and a half fly my TF Score. I even ran up the motor to make sure the pluming was all correct. Everything is a go for a Sunday morning first flight.
I get up at 5:30am Sunday put in my hour on the treadmill head back into the house from the garage and what do I see on the back patio WATER eveywhere. Its bloody raining, an hour later I get a call from Larry Renger and we both agree that it just was not a good day to head out to the flying site. In the words of my misspent youth "Bummer"! Oh well I guess it will have to wait until next Sunday.

I don't know how you put up with that weather down there!

I don't know how you put up with that weather down there!
It's tough, believe me. Somehow, Mother Nature seems to know exactly when I have a flying day planed (or a drag race or picnic or any other outdoor activity) and even if it was warm and dry all week, sure as h*ll we'll get rain on that particular day. HB~>

Here in Texas it's been wind instead of rain. Yesterday and today the winds are 20 kts with gusts to 25-20!!!

Welcome to Oregon weather. I ride bicycle a lot and one day someone said to me that you are going to get soaked so I told him if you don't ride in the rain you just don't ride. I will gladly change weather with you. We have had a real lot of cold weather and wind lately. Evedently the seasons are chagin without my permission. HB~> HB~> HB~>

Hi guys,
Sure did fly, only half a dozen. We had some wind but if you don't fly in the wind, you don't fly. (five to ten mile an hour wind,Ha Ha) Fresno, Ca gets it share of bad weather, usually no snow not much rain, to much sun. That sun is hard on the eyes. You have to wear a hat, because of the sun. Sun makes you lazy, get tried of wearing summer clothes all year long. With good weather most of the time doesn't give much building time. I hope you guys get some flying time in, so I don't feel bad. Just having fun, Gary

No sympathy but certainly a few good laughs. If I don't get to fly the Score next week it will be another three weeks before I get a chance. Heading back to Malvern PA April 13 for a couple of weeks of work. Anybody live near Malvern, I would like to meet some flyers out that way.

Is that on the eastern side or western side? I went out last Saturday to fly the "13" and found out I left the new venturis on the bench. Dd put up a couple of flights. Nothing like doing most of the pattern on the down wind side of circle. Sunday was out as we had church, a wake for one of our great ladies that used to be a member of the chirch and rain. I Feel or you guys in California if it aint rain its wind or fire. DOC Holliday

Thats what so great about being retired in Ks. You never know when the wind is going to drop below 20 mph, and you can go fly. Really; It happens every once in a while. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. y1 #^

Andy, the Philly Fliers meet on thursday nights at Penn Valley hobbies and then go for pizza. Flying is done at Neshaminy park or an industrial park near N. E. Philly airport when the theatre has a show at the park, ask Larry Renger he dropped by for a visit when he was here.
-
Do you by chance have the address of Penn Valley Hobbies. I can toss it in my Streets and Trips and get a map from where I will be to where it is. Larry really enjoyed his visit with you guys and told me if I was ever back there to stop by.

Re: Albert Hammond's lyrics to "It never rains in (Southern) California", sung by Sonny & Cher
I think the next line in that song is, "...It pours, man it pours."
http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/albert_hammond/it_never_rains_in_southern_california.html
Here's the first stanza:
Got on board a westbound 747
Didn't think before deciding what to do
Ooh, that talk of opportunities
TV breaks and movies
Rang true
Sure rang true
Seems it never rains in southern California
Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before
It never rains in California
But girl don't they warn ya
It pours, man it pours

Well it didn't rain today and I got the Score in the air. All in all it was a good day, Stan Tyler gave me some pointers to inprove the trim and when I get back from PA I look forward to trying them out. Oh my does a .51 powered plane pull it was much more pull than I am use too.
With regard to the song, my recollection goes like this. I was a teenager and it was the first time I heard the term "El Nino" and it rained very day for about a month. Next thing I know the radio people are playing "It never rains in Southern California". Don't know when the song was written but oh boy did it fit. When a serious El Nino occurs we just hunker down and let the water fall.
