I have not flown a stunt contest in over 10 years and am working frantically to get my Electric Vector 40 ready for the Golden State Stunt Champs next month in Madera, CA. I am just wondering who is all going. I am very excited to be getting back into stunt, especially with the electric power now available, and am looking forward to hanging out with all the great West Coast flyers. #^ Hope I can still get through the Intermediate pattern. ;) How about a roll call of who plans on attending.

Glad to hear you are getting back into stunt, even if it is with electricity S?P. I will be there and I just talked to Clint Ormosen the other day, he will be there as well. From what I hear most of the usual NorCal/Woodland/Sacramento and Bay area stunt fliers will be there. 8)

I'll be there.. And even fly Electric..
-
I plan to be there and be electric.
-
Yep...All cool dudes so far. Glad to hear the "Steve McQueen" of Stunt...Mr. Rush.....will be there. The "King of Cool"! ;D He's Bad and Nationwide!
-
Hi Shawn,
You already know I'll be there.......... H^^ I'm planning on going down Fri. Maybe do a little practice.

See 'ya there, Shawn.

Mike Haverly and I plan on getting there sometime Thursday. Chris Cox and his wife will probably get there sometime Friday and Paul Walker, Shal and Kristen are on a camping trip right now and will end up in Madera probably on Thursday or Friday. All electric in that group. Last I heard, the Tucson and Phoenix area gang are planning on being there also.

I'll be traveling down from Cottage Grove, Oregon. No electric here, just old fashioned fuel, but I get to stay with my brother so the price is right.
-
I'm going to be there too. ;D
You'll want to plan on the banquet. Look for Herb Roasted Pork Loin to show up on your plate. y1

Want to say Hi to Alan Resinger; I hope to be there too. trying to refinish the Coca Cola spec. into a ice cream bar. found a loose piece of solder in the fuel tank. It's going to be tight but I think I can get it done. Two bits will be there anyway. Had a great time with all you Canadian guys at the north west regionals. Can't wait to do it again. Take care and drive safe. Bob Harness

Bob,
Hope you can make it up. How are things in the middle of nowhere? We're looking forward to the trip South again this year. Madera is a great site and the Massey brothers did a bang up job last year.

Who is going to be at the flying site on Thursday for the practice? I will be flying my new airplane then and I may need some "Expert" help with the trimming of the airplane.
Thanks,
Shawn

Sad to report that due to my having to go in for surgery tomorrow, I will not be able to attend. I was so looking forward to being there.
Perhaps next hear

Hey John, take care of yourself first. There will be other contests. H^^

I'll be there to fly classic with my Thunderbird on Saturday and fly expert on Sunday with my Checkmate III (which flies like crap).
I'll be judging advanced and appearance with Ray Firkins.
I'll see you all Friday afternoon. Last year Howard, Igor and I flew on Friday until it was so dark i could hardly see the plane.
Howard's "The Man"
He'll fly at the "Worlds".
He'll make lots of money
and get all the girls.
He used to fly combat
but now he flies "Stunt.
And at the "World Champs"
he'll prove he's no runt.

I've just been appointed one of the pit bosses... an important job at any large contest. But my true calling is writing Jive Stunt Team style limericks:
"These once was a man from Seattle,
Who used I.C. engines in battle.
He then got the itch-
To electric he switched,
Now his planes Hummmm and don't rattle".

Not bad Pete.
Are you showing up Friday?

Thanks Larry, not too bad yourself, and yup, will be there Friday afternoon, C U there. BTW:Check out the "From the Circle" column in this months Woodland-Davis Aeromodelers online newsletter at "wdarc(dot)org". You may recognize someone in of one of the pictures (and no, I'm not referring to the new storage shed picture). ;D

Looks like another newsletter to be added to favorites. Thanks Pete. H^^

Your welcome Doc. I try to submit something every month just to let the R/C fliers who make up the vast majority of the club know we are still around and active. The circles require lots of work to maintain but it's worth it. Good luck with your new site. 8)

If aren't going to make to the Goldern State you are really missing out on something big. No less than 6 past and current National Champions on the field today for practice with close the 30 NATS wins between them. A couple of past World Champions as well. A very impressive field of the West Coasts finest flyers. Weather was perfect all day with light winds. Looking forward to tomorrows Old Time and Classic events with the PAMPA classes on Sunday. Very little chatter about the BOM as far as I could tell. That is good.
A big shout out to Alan Resinger for taking the time to help me program my ESC and FM-9 timer. Alan is a true class act all the way around. Great guy and a fantastic builder and flyer. A Canadian treasure for sure. Thanks Alan for all your help. H^^

A big shout out to Alan Resinger for taking the time to help me program my ESC and FM-9 timer.
And to Alan (figure 1 below) and Chris Cox from me for making me a fine new airscrew.
My trip to the GSSC was delayed a bit because: 1) the wife of the guy who builds my airplanes had to foist off delivering an airplane Tuesday on somebody else, and b) I had to come up with a spinner for my cool new 3-blade, backwards Canadian prop. I had one printed.
Trip down was uneventful. I-5 was foggy from Salem to Roseburg, OR, spoiling my view of potential flying fields, and smoky from Corning to Dunnigan, CA, causing me to reach behind my seat to see if the battery box was warm. We stopped at the obligatory In-N-Out Burger (no kin to the World Champion) and saw the vehicle illustrated in figure 2 below parked outside. "So what?" asked Marilou, "What's the big deal?" She was completely unfamiliar with the vehicle and could not identify it. I told her that that demonstrated a deficiency in the test administered to potential US citizenship candidates.
We arrived at the official GSSC hotel, greeted by Kirk Mullinnix and Bob Whitely, who expressed concern about whether I'd pass drug tests next year. The hotel had neglected to provide special Jive Combat Team parking, so we parked in the most special reserved place we found (with the desk clerk's blessing).

When I looked at Heman's pictures, wazzat Russell Shaffer I saw at the pilot's meeting? I hope so! He invited me to ride shotgun, but I couldn't afford even that, due (almost) entirely to the government shutdown.
I'm anxiously awaiting the results...wondering if Howard's last-minute motor change worked out for him. And if he's finally clawed his way out of the West Coast Junior Varsity and onto the WC Varsity team. ???????????? Steve

Ah Howard .... The car of the century. 1955 Chevrolet 2 door sedan.

The motor and prop worked dandy. No varsity here, but I did manage to win the JV championship. Chris Cox, a JV contender, pointed out to me that the only way I passed him was because I was using one of his and Alan's props. Check out the quicky spinner.

Yep, Steve, it was Russell. You should have come - I could have used some coaching. I've been trying to open up my figures, but I haven't quite got it through my head that they should be opened in an UPWARD direction. Pavement is hard on balsa..
-
Russell,
It was fun chatting and flying with you this weekend. Can't wait to meet up again. We need to trade trophies though. You left with the Second Place Intermediate and should have take the First Place as you won the event. They gave me the 1st place award but it is yours. I will contact you and we can make an exchange some how.
Congrats on your win! H^^
