Might be making my first trip to the regionals in Roseburg in May. An old friend, Orin Humphries, has asked me if I would pit for him in the scale event. Looking good, still trying to confirm a few details though.
Anyone else going? It might be the best opportunity to meet a few of you guys in person.

Me.

Me, too, as they say nowadays.

Will the Jivettes be there?

Mocking is a hate crime.
An in any case, how dare you make light of a movement of people that underwent such repression. Then 25-30 years later, after they had all made it or went into a different industry, the perpetrators are largely disgraced and some headed to jail, and there is no negative consequence to them possible, heroically came forward to pile on, signalling their great virtue. Hopefully Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd will write "Profiles in Courage, Part II".
We have advanced to such a wonderful condition that all someone has to do is shout and point the finger, and you are *automatically* convicted (as long as you are not in a protected class (currently constituting well over half the US population) in which case, nothing you do is a crime).
Let's all celebrate this magnificent state of affairs!

You attending this year Brett?

Count me in.

You attending this year Brett?
Probably. Its the first of March, a little early to project out that far. I think I have been to all but one since 1988.

That was our latest scheme to deal with Brett, but it looks like he’s onto us.

BTW, the mere existence of the Jivettes is an offense to several different protected classes, not to mention the name. Clearly you are one of the oppressors in the genocidal white heteronormative patriarchal power structure.
If any of the Jivettes need to file a grievance or need any advice on how to sue you, send them over to my room at the NWR, I would be really happy to help them out.

I don’t know if that can be arranged. It’s been hard to get chaperones on Memorial Day weekend.

Howard, you gonna run stunt? There's a 99.44% chance I'll be there (not 100 because I'm an engineer, and there are meteors and car accidents and whatnot). Probably a 90% chance I won't be flying Sunday -- unless my shoulder makes tremendous progress I'm planning on not flying at all, or just flying Expert Profile on Saturday. Unless my Ercoupe makes tremendous progress I won't be flying in Scale, either.
-
I'll be there. Someone has to wipe the drool off Howard's chin.
-
Howard, you gonna run stunt?
No, somebody competent will, namely Chris Cox.

Chaperones? I'm out.

All confirmed for my first trip to the regionals! Looking forward to the event and hopefully meeting up with a member or two.

That's a drive! So, you're leaving early Thursday AM? What route will you take? I'm not the one to advise, because I dislike I-84 & I-5 immensely. I'm more interested in a relaxing trip than a quick trip. Friday will be a zoo on I-5. y1 Steve

Only 9+ hrs, 'taint no big thang.....lol. Planning to leave about 4am. Hope to be there within 10 hrs.
-
My plan is to leave Thursday evening and spend the night somewhere in Oregon, probably about Albany. We did that last year and it worked out well. It's at least six hours in our motorhome and not much fun in Friday holiday traffic.
-
The same with me Mike. Cox has me judging O T on Friday at noon. I'd have to be on the road at 3 in the morning to make it on Friday.
-
Hmmm, I just answered an email asking me for the same thing. Oh, I get it, we both get to judge! And, by the way, I'll most likely be CD for Stuntathon, I'll be leaning on you.

Sorry to say I'm going to miss this year's shindig. Our travel plans will put us on the east coast about that time. Hope to see everyone at the MnM and of course, the GSSC.

Very good, Howard. You did miss the two contests in Edmonton. The Spring one is a new attempt, but the August one has been done for quite some time. Both deserve a lot of support, because the Canadians know how to have a good time...ask Paul. Bruce Perry will give you the 411. y1 Steve

They don't tell me about them. Send me the lowdown, please.

We get to put 40 candles on the cake October 18-21. Geez! That's only 7 months away! Think you'll be there?

Motel reservations are already made for both Roseburg and GSSC!

It's all the rage on facebook. I'm not facebook-ish enough to go find the 411, but Bruce Perry can provide it. y1 Steve

Bumping, because Gary started a new thread to ask the same question.

Because I couldn't find the old one.....LOL!! If you want to hide something from me, bury it in a computer somewhere, Ill never find it. Even if its something I put there myself!!! LOL!!!!

I plan to attend on Sunday as a spectator. I'll wear my name tag so you can spot me. (I'm that tall, skinny guy with grey hair).

It took me two tries to find it, with the search function.

You can definitely count me in. I'll be mostly in the Speed & Racing Circles. #^ #^ #^
Cheers,
Paul (aka Mr. Open Mouse)

I am planning on it if everything works out. Gordan Delaney offered to let me accompany him up from Utah this year. Heck yeah!
First big contest. I'll be the big guy, smiling and taking it all in. ;D
Come say hi!

I'd planned to leave on Thursday, but not will not leave until Friday morining.

I would note that the weather report for Roseburg this weekend is rainy on Friday and overcast with threat of rain Saturday and Sunday. Now, I have seen this weather report for the Regionals most every year and I think we've only been rained out maybe once.
-
I`m Going. Been awhile since I`ve gone. Have not been flying because of health problems. Hope I can still fly.

There is a small chance I will be there.

"Rained out" is a relative term to the denizens of the Pacific Northwest. Friday looks a bit rough, but Saturday and Sunday look just fine.
I can recall *many* times we got rained on the entire weekend, but we managed. Including one Saturday ar Roseburg where Paul and I were out judging OTS or something like that and sitting in lawn chairs in our rain gear. There was so much water flowing down the ramp that it was breaking over our shoes. And another time where we had to leave early because they were expecting snow over the Ashland grade. Another time, in Eugene, Ted and I were out in it all day long as he flew Classic and everything I owned was completely soaked.
This weekend looks pretty good, but come on, "never rained out" is bit of a stretch.
Brett

A couple of years at the Eugene Regionals, I tried to fly in OTS, but the rain lasted pretty much all day with some breaks for flying. Roseburg, historically, has better weather than Eugene; usually warmer and dryer. Why is that? roseburg is only 60 miles from Eugene. But the difference is amazing.
-

This is the usual routine of claiming bad weather at Roseburg and I for one am not falling for it again.
I braved the “dreadful weather” last year and had to suffer in the 70 degree sunshine and light breeze. You bunch are totally shameless in your preservation of this event as an “elites only” by publishing misleading weather forecasts to keep the riff raff away. Well it won’t work . . .

See some of you swinging cats tomorrow!
