Well the Nats is about 2 weeks away, who do you think has a shot at the walker cup? An underdog could be Mike Palko, he came in somewhere around 7th last year, and he won Brodak this year. Also there is Brett, Dave, Orestes, Derek, Windy and others.
So who do you think has a shot?

Palko won't be there so he's out. Same guys in front of the same judges.. I wonder
I'm so far out this year I am just donating to the cause and having fun.
I know this! Windy is fifth! Again and again.. oh and one more time!!
-
Whether it’s calm,
Or it blows, or it rains,
The winners this year
Will have yellow planes.

Let me narrow that down,
In case you can't see,
The top dogs this year
Look like the old JCT.

Do you think he owns fifth? At the local level, he is usually in first, unless he overuns, or runs out fuel because he spent too much time setting the needle (Lee, 08)
-
My mistake I can only find 06 and 08 fifth places. Well I will stand with it anyway.
-
I just remembered this, In an email Bob Hunt sent me, he said Bill Werwage will probably be at the Nats this year. Can't leave him out either.
-

Palko's not going???? Does that mean the ringleader of the dynamic duo (Banjock) isn't going either???
-
My money is on Paul. but then, it usually is. Maybe Fitz.
-
I think Paul is still running Stunt at the NATS, which means he doesn't fly in it. I'm sure he'll fly in the Team Trials. That would make the TT's the more interesting to me. 8) Steve

Also, fifth at the '95 NATS in Pasco, WA.

I just looked at the Nats registration, and there are 3 seniors registered for the Nats, NO Juniors (I'm not going), 21 registered in advanced and 31 registered in open. That seem very low for advanced. I'd like to go, but it is too far for grandpa to drive by himself, since grandma already went to Brodak. Tom Dixon said, we could get greyhound to ship the planes and the tools, while we fly there. He says everything will about even out in prices if we drove to Muncie.
I probably won't go to the Nats until 2011, when I'd have my drivers license and Grandpa would be able to drive with me. I wouldn't be dead weight in the car like my aunt says.

There will be A LOT of last-minute entries. I think at this time last year there were only 17 entries in Open.

My money is on Doug Moon!!!
If he stays in the groove like I saw him fly in Dallas a couple of weeks ago I do not know how he can loose! If the wind blows I will bet even more on Doug!!!

I've seen Doug fly, and I believe it.

Word.
If Dougie gets going, watch out.
No one has voted for Orestes, I think he has a pretty good chance.
-
If going by his last Nat's placing, how he was flying a year ago, and how he's looked at the field all month count's for anything, I'd say keep an eye on Bill Rich. This could be Bill's year! y1
It's hard to diss the JCT
But y'all have missed my bud Billy
He's practiced up and got a new ride
To loose to him shouldn't hurt your pride

It would be hard to vote against the defending (two time) champ if speculating on this years winner.
That being said, I will be rooting for Derek, Banjock, Tysor, Doug and Steve Moon and many other great guys. Here's hoping the weather's great, nobody gets fed to a prop and everyone has an awesome time.
-
Are you coming, Steve?
-
I, myself would not pick any one individual. Too many variables. Also with all the input about judging and such they may crack down even harder.
Just think, no bracket judging or halo effect. #^ #^ #^ LL~My opinion and only my opinion. DOC Holliday

I don't know about winning the Nat's, but my bud Gordan Delaney is going this year with his new plane. He's looking good, and the "package" works good. He'll be a contender as long as things go OK and nothing breaks. y1
-
Are you coming, Steve?
Um, assuming you were asking me, yeah. Barring any last second catastrophies, I'll be there for my first Nats. I was able to convince my wife that I had to be present at the EC meeting or Bill Rich would personally rip my lungs out. So far she still believes me.

My wife thinks I'm hiking the Appalachian Trail.

This sounds like it will be a Nats filled with good flying and possibly an unexpected top 5! My money is still on some of the regulars because I know how good they fly. Even so, I can't wait to hear how the week unfolds. Good luck to everyone.
How about who will have the prettiest airplane? Will it be a JCT member? (Howard, that's your cue to reply in rhyme..... ;D)
Mike

Easy question. The one with the most points wins!
-
Our buddy Randy has high hopes
Thats just dandy, but its slippery slopes
We won't call this game until its over
It would be lame if we crash in the wing overs

As far as poetry goes Muhammand Ali you aint
So instead ,stick to twisting the bellcrank
Precision angle of 45 and 90 degress you will do
Round loops eights and triangles too
keep the shapes and intersections in mind
and a NATs trophy, you may well find
R
-
It won't be long now,
Another couple weeks waiting.
I'd have practiced more
But my fuel's marinating.
-
Howard, don't let those knees go all wobbly
Or let those triangles go all woogley and bobbly
Make sure that gear is put on the right way
And the Rhomboids don't eat all that pretty paint away.
-
Palko and Danny
would kick your fanny
(But Mike's gotta work at his new job)
-
As the time now approaches
No prepping, just go
No time for reproaches
Just the JCT show.
-
Roses are red, violets are blue,
Predictions are nonsense,
Y'all just do good an' have fun.
It don't rhyme, but I don't give a chit.

Either Eric V or Steve Fitton will win Advanced.

Hi there Brad!
My money's on Steve to win Advanced. After all, earlier this spring he beat our buddy Derek in Huntersville....

Yah, interesting how things work huh?

who is buddy?--- sorry for the improper grammer and punctuation--- typing with only the right hand when you are a leftie is most difficult.

Buddy Wieder! He just won Classic at Brodak's.
Bob
Buddy is a great flyer. I heard he called you saying that he won classic and you didn't believe him at first. If he flies in advanced, I'd put my money on him for the win.
-
For my money,
Everyone who attends and/or flys in any of the events are winners. I have been sitting here not even able to attend local contests due to economically distressing times these days. Someday I'll even be able to afford a new lawn mower to get my lawn looking like less of a hay feild.

Well Bob Hunt's prediction was right, Buddy Weider won classic. Congrats Buddy!
-
One thing is for sure, in Advanced whether it is Bud, Paul, Ryan, Steve, Eric or several more flyer, this is a Barnburner! There is some tremendous competition going on. Flying quality is really outstanding here

See prediction above...

Marvin,
Buddy Wieder is one of the 2 teens in the photo with John D'Ottavio in the 1961 M.A.N. JD Falcon article.
Bud was very good back in those days, and then played baseball, and became a teacher. He has been back at it a few years, and will be a future force not only in Classic, but in PAMPA in the near future. He recently lost his PAMPA airplane and is building a new one now.
Yes, he is a long time friend, but he is a great flyer too. Congrats to Bud.
-
...in addition to his obvious talent in this HOBBY, Buddy is one heck of a nice guy too!

Over the sound of the pipe, you here Doug Moon a cussin,
saying "dirty wh*re", "sh*t" and "F**k"
there will be no joy in Muncie that day for you
so its best you just load the truck.
