Resembles an I-Beam Stiletto by Les  McDonald in both looks and paint scheme.

I think the plane is called Pantera and it was flown during one of the World Championships. There was a different shot of the plane in Model Aviation several years ago.

You are most probably correct, but it surely looks a lot like the influence of the paint scheme of Les' I-Beamer.

Odd to have a six-digit number on the right wing...

The "F" may indicate French origin, but I thought we (in the USA) were the only ones with several hundred thousand license numbers issued.

Les McD's original 35 Stiletto had a paint scheme sort of like this one, but I don't recall any silver or gray, or the big lightning jag between wing and tail. Also, every Stiletto I saw or saw photos of had the canopy well forward - jet style. Those were pretty, and so is our mystery model!
