Title: White Christmas...
Post by: minnesotamodeler on December 25, 2009, 07:30:22 AM
My 1/4A backyard flying field...not much flying in the near future, huh.

Taken early this AM.  Still snowing, more to come...12 to 14" so far.

Merry Christmas to all!

Our first white Christmas in quite a few years. Pretty, but a lot of motorists are less than thrilled.

Just part of the wonder and joy of living in Minnesota!

I was out there a few years ago for my wife's family. January in Minnesota makes you appreciate heat, let me tell ya!

Merry Christmas!
Chris

8 inches in North Texas.  All roads into and out of Wichita Falls are closed.  Our drive and county road are drifted shut.  3-4 foot drifts at both the front and back doors.  Lots of food, lots of firewood and lots of family.  It will be a good day.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone.. Think the Tulsa official is 5 1/2 inches but I have two foot drifts with the 40 MPH winds we had lastnight. Looks like an ocean with swells about every 4 foot.

Have an electric heater warming up my diesel tractor so I can get it started to move snow. Need to clear a path to my shop and see if I can find the driveway. Wished when I dropped the mower I had hooked up the box blade. With nothing on the rear for weight it may be fun trying to push a loader full of snow. Looks like this white stuff will be with us for a while, not suppose to get above freezing till Monday or Tuesday.

It was 39 at 0700 and rained yesterday and most of the night. Starting to get colder and has changed to snow and windy, suppose to be in the mid 20's quick. Like they say about weather in Illinois, don' like it just wait a little bit it'll change.

Pretty pictures of all that snow; I saw some photos of snow in a couple of magazines too.  Well, have to go back to dealing with 70 degrees and sunshine here in So. Cal.

The first school for ESS training we were let out at noon on a Friday as the snow was up to about 8 inches already and still coming down.  Was told by the instructor to stay in or walk where ever we wanted to go.  If we get on the highway to remember Texas drivers have two speeds,  fast and stop.  He was almost right.

No snow here but a bit cold (31 right now). No precipitation predicted for the next few days. Kinda weird. It was white this morning, but that was heavy, heavy frost.

Normally cold and snowy Vermont has about 12 at this time, but now, in my backyard, we've only got about 2-3 inches of snow, hopefully it'll stay like that

OK guys I'll bite, what's a white Christmas?
Andy in California.

Hope you all had as happy a Christmas as I did.  Both sons, their wives, all my grand children, mother, mother-in-law, and my loving wife and her daughter for Christmas Eve.  My Christmas gift this year was watching my grandson move the flaps on my stunter and seeing the terror on his fathers eyes.  I just smiled and said "son whats the worst that can happen, he breaks the flap?  Look around I have plenty of airplanes!"  It was great beyond words.  Oh and did I mention we had a total power failure on the street just minutes before Christmas Eve dinner.  No problem candles and Coleman to the rescue.  As my wife said just before we started eating "God Bless us All".  Finally the lights did come back and my grandchildren got to play with the train that circled the tree.

Great news Andy.  Christmas eve had me worried about the wife and daughter getting home with the snow coming down.  I know I should leave the worry in the all mighty's hands.   Then Christmas morn having everybody here except for Emmy(she was at a friends house) was great for me.  The son came by to say his wife got called to work, she's a hospice employ.  But, the not having to worry about loading up the vehicles and going somewhere was the best thing both Christmas eve & morn.
